Nitin has over 20 years of direct experience in the areas of research, development and engineering related to cardiovascular medical devices. Currently, he holds a position as Vice President of Research, Development (R&D) and Technology at Medtronic Neurovascular and provides leadership to global R&D activities. Prior to joining Covidien (now Medtronic), Nitin was Vice President of R&D at Altura Medical, venture funded early stage endovascular company in Silicon Valley. During his tenure there, he completed product development activities leading to European regulatory approval. Prior to that, Nitin was Director of R&D at Cordis Corporation (Johnson & Johnson), where his responsibilities included providing technical and organizational leadership in the development of interventional cardiovascular medical devices from concept innovation to product launch. Nitin joined Cordis in 2011 and was immediately chartered with consolidating their R&D activities from the East Coast to a single Silicon Valley location. Before Cordis, Nitin spent 15 years at W L Gore & Associates where he held various positions of increasing responsibilities in the area of product development, product management and engineering operation. He played a critical role in the successful commercialization of the EXCLUDER AAA Endoprosthesis, which received the Frost & Sullivan Product Leadership award in 2004. Before that, he led the technical development of Gore’s HELEX® Septal Occluder, which won him the Medical Design Excellence Award in 2001. Nitin received his BS from the University of Poona, MS from the University of Oklahoma and his PhD from the University of Maryland in Mechanical Engineering with Cardiovascular Biomechanics as his research focus. He also received an MBA from San Jose State University with special emphasis on International Business.
