Dr. Stewart Davis leads the medical device practice for Locust Walk, focusing on M&A and fundraising. He brings a track record of success over the last 13 years as a full-time medical device entrepreneur. He has founded or held an executive position in seven medical device companies and has worked on various successful licensing and partnership deals. Until late 2010, Stewart served as Chief Operating Officer of SafeStitch Medical Inc. At SafeStitch, he was involved in effecting a reverse merger to go public in 2007 and went through multiple FDA approvals to ultimately lead a successful commercialization of a novel surgical device.
Currently, Stewart is Executive Chairman of Dermasensor Inc., which is developing new technology for the screening of Melanoma. He also does business development and regulatory/medical/clinical consulting for various companies including: Bioceptive Inc., a company he co-founded and was CEO of, which has developed novel women’s health and gynecological devices; Giteliscope Group Inc, which is developing disposable arthroscopes for Orthopedic Surgery and Vestagen Protective Technologies which markets active barrier apparel such as fluid repellant and antimicrobial scrub suits. Stewart also sits on the board of multiple medical device companies, including DermaSensor Inc., Bioceptive Inc. and Transcaval Solutions Inc. In the past, he served as Assistant Medical Director of Innovia LLC and all of its affiliates including InnFocus LLC and InnoGraft LLC. He has done thirteen FDA clearances and CE Marks, set up three ISO 13485 quality systems and has published over a dozen peer reviewed papers as well as a book.
In 2011, Stewart was named a Top 20 Most Influential Business Leader under the age of 40, in South Florida (Miami Herald) and named by the South Florida Business Journal to their 40 Under Forty list for 2012. He graduated from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine as well as Summa Cum Laude from the University of Miami Honors Program.
Stewart lives in Delray Beach, FL with his wife and two children.
