Born on August 1, 1990 in Guatemala City, Byron Moisés Izquierdo Rodriguez has had a passion for robotics from an early age. In 2009, he began studying Electrical Engineering at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala. His professional journey started with teaching computer classes, which introduced him to the educational business world. This experience led him to establish Byonicles, a company focused on creating robotics kits designed to teach children about electronics, mechanics, and programming.
At 21, Byron began teaching basic, intermediate, and advanced robotics courses at Rafael Landívar University. Over time, Byonicles grew and began to innovate, developing proprietary components to reduce reliance on foreign imports, particularly from China.
In 2017, he founded Roboteach and organized Guatemala’s national robotics competition, the Roboteach Challenge. A year later, in 2018, he launched Robótica Pi, which supplied robotics and IT books, along with components, and expanded into CNC machinery production.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Byron developed the VentilabIG intelligent mechanical ventilator in 2020. The ventilator gained national and international recognition, being one of the few to successfully operate with real patients.
In 2022, he launched “Yo Kaibil,” the first 3D mobile video game developed in Guatemala, with its premiere event held at Ciudad Cayalá, the largest shopping center in Central America. In 2023, he launched Mettatronic, aiming to revive the educational sector after the pandemic. By 2024, he is developing a new video game titled “Leyendas de Guatemala,” expanding educational robotics programs in rural areas, and working on innovative projects such as drones, electric motorcycles, and virtual reality applications.
