Pablo has over two decades of medical device development and leadership experience. Currently, he is the General Manager of Laza Medical, a Shifamed portfolio company focused on developing robotic innovation powered by AI solutions for the cardiovascular space. Previously, Pablo served as the Vice President of Digital Solutions for Johnson & Johnson (J&J). In this role, he led the strategy and development of the company’s digital product ecosystem, focused on surgical tools and robotics. Pablo was the technology founder for Verb Surgical, Inc, leading the product concept and technology that resulted in a strategic venture between J&J and Google which was acquired by J&J in 2020. He served as the Vice President of Research and Technology, helping to productize the technology together with a team of several hundred engineers while developing the company’s strategic product roadmap and IP portfolio. Earlier in his career, Pablo held roles of increasing responsibility with SRI International where he spearheaded medical and robotics research, through numerous cutting-edge development projects for government and commercial clients. During his tenure, he also co-founded MISTRAL, a collaboration between SRI and Stanford Hospital to develop novel medical devices for children. Pablo has his B.S./M.S. in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid, Spain and a M.S.M.E. from Stanford University focused on Mechatronics. He also has nanodegrees in Artificial Intelligence, focused specifically on Deep and Reinforcement Learning.
