Dr. Nilesh Patel is the vice president of Medical Affairs for the Neuromodulation division of Boston Scientific, where he is responsible for developing the medical affairs strategy, focusing on engagement with the scientific and clinical community, medical associations, medical insights, global medical education and support for clinical development planning. Board-certified in pain management and anesthesiology, Nilesh leverages his more than 25 years of experience in the medical device and pain management fields to bring leading-edge solutions to address unmet patient needs.
As an international speaker and lecturer, Nilesh served as a teacher and mentor and has addressed a multitude of pain society meetings, as well as at prestigious academic programs in the U.S. and abroad, including the Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Harvard, and Mayo Clinic. He has published 40 original research papers in leading pain management publications, including Pain Physician, Pain Practice, and Pain Medicine. He is actively involved in legislative and community initiatives that promote the field of multidisciplinary and interventional pain medicine and sits on several advisory and practice boards.
Nilesh earned two bachelor’s degrees in medicine and surgery at the University of Wales College of Medicine in the United Kingdom. He finished his residency in anesthesiology at Case Western Reserve University and completed his fellowship in pain medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
Nilesh also earned a master’s degree in business administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He has advised academic practices, private practice, and private equity medical businesses on growth, optimization, and differentiation. He is actively engaged in legislative, policy, and advocacy initiatives that promote and elevate multidisciplinary and interventional pain medicine, so as to decrease pain, suffering, and the opioid burden
