Eric P. Geismar has worked as an attorney and businessman in the medtech and healthcare sectors for over thirty years. He is currently the CEO of EPG Consulting, Inc. where he consults on legal and business issues mostly in the medical device and life science space. From 2001-2016, Eric served as Vice President and Chief Counsel at Medtronic Diabetes, one of four businesses at Medtronic, plc., where he was responsible for all legal operations relating to Medtronic’s $2.5 billion diabetes franchise. For a great part of that time, Eric was also responsible for Business Development at Medtronic Diabetes as well as leading the legal function. Prior to his current position at Medtronic, Eric served in various positions in the legal organization for MiniMed Inc. Eric’s responsibilities included oversight of the day-to-day legal affairs of the company, as well as responsibilities for securities and regulatory compliance, litigation management, management of the company’s IP portfolio and the formation and management of certain strategic relationships. Eric also served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Caldera Medical from June 2016 to December 2016. Before starting his in-house career, Eric was an associate with the Los Angeles office of the law firm Dewey Ballantine from June 1993 until he joined MiniMed. Eric’s practice at Dewey Ballantine consisted of securities regulation, mergers and acquisitions, corporate and general transactional work focused mainly in the healthcare and medtech sectors. He earned a B.A. degree in History from Cornell University in 1983. He earned a M.B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1989 and his J.D. degree from the University of Southern California Law Center in 1994.
